Florida Highway Patrol Identifies 18-Year-Old Deborah Brown As Bicyclist That Was Struck By A 44-Year-Old Driver
Deborah Brown of Port St. Lucie was biking in the 4200 block in the county when a 2003 Honda crashed into her, said a Florida Highway Patrol spokesman and the St. Lucie County Sheriff Department.
Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
She was taken by ambulance to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute in Port St. Lucie in critical condition.
Brown’s condition was described as stable, according to the Florida Highway Patrol spokesman.
“She is doing a lot better today than they were last night,” he said after visiting the hospital, referring to Brown.
The car was driven by a 44-year-old man of Indian River County. The driver and a passenger declined medical treatment at the scene, the spokesman said.
Florida Highway Patrol said, troopers are still working to determine if either drugs or alcohol had a major role or had caused the crash.
The Florida Highway Patrol department initially described the injured bicyclist as a man, however, the information was incorrect.
