A Martin County man was fatally struck by a SUV while holding his son’s hand on an Upper East Side street. He was a rising-star golf instructor who “had everything going for him,” a friend said.
27-year-old Brown of Riviera Beach had seen his life changed drastically in the past year. He moved from Martin County to Palm Beach County, got a new house and landed jobs at two prestigious golf courses.
“He had everything going for him: his attitude, his looks, his enthusiasm,” his landlord said through tears from her home .
“He was just at the wrong place at the wrong time. A matter of seconds different and he wouldn’t have been in that spot. I just can’t believe it.”
Brown was hit by a black Mercedes SUV while crossing East 62nd Street with his 10-year old son, police said. The pair was not in the crosswalk.
The driver, which has not yet been identified by police, was issued a summons for driving without a license.
Brown was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver is in stable condition at Delray Medical Center with head and leg injuries. His 10-year old son is also in critical condition, officials said.
