The Honda was headed north on 1st Avenue near East 7th Street when the driver struck a tractor trailer, Florida Highway Patrol and Police officials said.

The Honda hit a truck, lost control and swerved, said the manager of the hardware store.

“I heard a big bang and squeaking tires,” the manager said.

The car then hurtled through the window of the hardware store, injuring 6workers and 7 customers in the store.

“We ran to the end of the shop,” said a 40-year-old shaken shopper. “I thought it was a truck. I thought I was going to die.”

The Honda driver and a passenger were taken to Delray Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, police officials said.

Florida Highway Patrol officials decided to withhold the identities of the workers and customers injured in the accident.

Florida Highway Patrol said, all the victims were taken to a hospital in Palm Beach County with non-life threatening injuries.

Witnesses claimed the Honda was speeding, but authorities said there was no criminality in the crash.
