A commercial bus crash in Martin County left at least five people dead and more than 25 others hospitalized, according to FHP officials.
Police say a bus carrying 59 passengers was hit by a tractor trailer while traveling westbound on Interstate 95 near the town of Jensen Beach.
The truck was headed east when it blew a tire and went speeding over the median and into oncoming traffic, cops said.
Cell phone footage captured by motorists shows the shocking aftermath.
“It was a terrible scene,” explained a man, who was driving to with his son and passed by the wreckage.
“I was really traumatized myself,” added a 33-year-old trucker.
“I’ve been driving for a long time now and I have never seen anything like that before,” he told The Post, noting how passengers were sobbing together on the side of the road.
In the footage, cargo from the semi-truck had been seen scattered across the highway as firefighters and first responders attempt to get inside the mangled up bus.
FHP reported multiple fatalities on Twitter, but didn’t initially say how many. Officials later confirmed that at least nine people had died.
Local hospital officials in Jensen Beach told Florida Highway Patrol that they had received 25 patients and were expecting nine more, three of whom are still in critical condition.
