A 34-year-old was driving a SUV in the left lane of Jensen Beach Avenue near East 233rd Street, when he crossed over the double-yellow lines into oncoming traffic and sideswiped a 2014 Honda SUV being driven by a 69-year-old woman, according to FHP authorities.

The 34-year-old then accelerated south in the northbound lane, where he crashed head-on with a 1995 Toyota sedan. The Toyota was driven by a 59-year-old of Delray Beach who was killed, police officials said.

The Toyota then veered into the path of a fourth vehicle, a 2013 Honda SUV driven by a 39-year-old woman.

The 34-year old allegedly abandoned his car and fled, but returned shortly thereafter and was arrested, police said.

He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death and criminal possession of a controlled substance, for allegedly being in possession of marijuana and unidentified pills. The 34-year old also received a violation for driving with a revoked license, police said.

The 69-year-old woman was rushed to Delray Medical Center, but could not be saved. None of the other victims had severe injuries.
