Five Dead, Multiple Injured In Two Separate Car Crashes In Broward County
Four young men driving around Broward County were nearly killed when their BMW jumped a curb and hit a SUV, authorities said.
The horrific wreck occurred after a 26-year-old driver lost control of the red BMW as he was rounding a bend on Weston Avenue while drunk and speeding, cops said.
Rescuers had to cut them from the wreckage.
A 23-year-old passenger in the back seat was hospitalized in critical condition, while another 20-year-old passenger were in serious condition.
The driver was charged with vehicular assault and DWI.
The accident was one of several around the city.
Hours later a Martin County man was killed in a fiery crash around the same time.
A 31-year-old man was on the Southern State Parkway in Broward County when he lost control of his Honda S2000 and crash into a bicyclist, killing the bicyclist instantly.
The survivors in the crashes were all hospitalized in serious but stable condition.
The Florida Highway Patrol and the Broward County Police Department are urging anyone with relevant information relating to the crash to contact the department.
