Two men died after the car they were driving on Interstate 95 in Palm Beach County became airborne and went over a highway overpass.
The car landed on I-195 below and hit another car, whose driver and a 17-year-old were injured.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol officials, a 25-year-old man and a 19-year-old were pronounced dead at the scene by Palm Beach County emergency medical crew members.
The 35-year old had been discharged from the hospital, according to a Delray Medical Center spokeswoman. But the 17-year old is still receiving medical attention in a Palm Beach hospital.
According to a FHP Sergeant, a preliminary investigation by troopers and Palm Beach CRASH team indicated that 25-year old was traveling north on I-95, when he lost control of his 2006 Ford Focus for an “unknown reason” and hit the guardrail on the left side of the road.
After hitting the guardrail, according to police, the Ford became airborne and landed on the eastbound portion of I-195, where it struck a 2002 Chevy Suburban.
I-195 eastbound near I-95 was closed after the accident for about three hours.
