Jacob King Killed In Wrong-Way Crash That Left Five Others Hospitalized
A wrong-way car crash along I-95 in the western part of Broward County has claimed the life of one driver and sent five other people to a hospital in Broward County.
Florida Highway Patrol officials and Broward County police authorities said, the crash occurred in the northbound lanes near Weston just east of US 27.
Florida Highway Patrol officials say, 32-year-old Jacob King of Pembroke Pines was driving a 2017 Honda in the wrong lanes when he struck a 2018 Nissan Frontier occupied by a five other people.
After the initial collision, King’s vehicle hit a 2007 Toyota driven by 51-year-old from Jensen Beach. King died at the scene while the five people in the Nissan were taken to Broward General Hospital with serious injuries.
Florida highway patrol officials and police authorities would not confirm if alcohol or drugs played a major role in the crash. Drivers were advised to avoid the area as crews continue their investigation and cleanup of the scene with the roadway reopening shortly.
