The crash happened at the intersection of S. 25th Street and West Midway Road.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, three vehicles were involved and one of them was engulfed in flames. Seven people from that vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene.

An employee of nearby Jackson’s Cakes was in the parking lot and took video on his cellphone.

“I was hoping that somehow the people would be saved,” said the witness.

The 38-year-old driver of the car that crashed into the victims’ car, was critically injured and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

A passenger in a third card suffered minor injuries. The driver of the vehicle was also critically injured.

The Florida Highway Patrol Department said the cause of the crash is still under investigation and encourages those with relevant information to contact the department.
