22-year-old Franklin Brown of Fort Lauderdale was traveling at a high rate of speed southbound in the 2000 block of North Federal Highway when he crashed a Yamaha sports motorcycle into a Ford F-150 pickup that was making a U-turn onto the southbound lanes. The crash took place at southbound in the 2000 block of the North Federal Highway.

City police and the Florida Highway Patrol officials are trying to determine where Franklin got the motorcycle. Relatives told traffic-homicide investigators that Franklin had left home in a car on the way to work. Although it has not yet been confirmed if Franklin had exceeded the authorized alcohol limit or if he was on drugs, the Florida Highway Patrol told the press the officials are still investigating the crash.
