SUV Driver Charged For Crash That Killed Two

A SUV crashed into a tractor-trailer in Indian River County, killing two passengers in the SUV and injuring the driver, Florida Highway Patrol officials said.

A 2014 SUV was trying to pass to the right of the truck when the driver collided with the 18-wheeler and then rammed into a parked car in Wabasso Beach, police officials said.

A 33-year old truck driver was driving south on Sebastian Street when the truck driver crashed into the SUV and nearly split the truck in two, according to witnesses.

The truck driver ran over to the SUV with a baseball bat to try and help free the men from the mangled hunk of metal, Florida Highway Patrol officials said.

The Florida Highway Patrol officials arrived at the crash scene and managed to free the driver from the car.

The driver and two of his passengers, were rushed to the hospital. The passengers both had severe trauma to the body. They were both confirmed dead at a hospital in Palm Beach County, cops said.

The driver of the SUV was driving without a license, charges against him are pending, police sources and the FHP department said.
