A West Palm Beach woman was driving drunk on a school day when she struck and critically injured a man who was walking out of a Palm Beach County hospital, officials said.
A 33-year old woman was already fleeing the scene of one accident when she slammed into the 46-year-old man who had just gotten out of therapy in Delray Beach, according to police and hospital sources.
The 33-year-old woman had just gotten into an accident with a 55-year-old man driving a Kia, according to police.
The driver of the Kia trailed her as she tried to flee the scene of that crash.
In her attempt to get away, she crashed into a man as he was crossing the street at Interstate 95 in Boca Raton, cops said.
The victim, who was not immediately identified, suffered body trauma and was rushed into a medical center in the county, cops said.
The 33-year-old was taken into custody on suspicion of drunk driving.
She was later charged with vehicular assault, driving while intoxicated and driving while ability impaired.
The Florida Highway Patrol Department is encouraging anyone with additional information concerning the cause of the car incident to contact the department as soon as possible.
