During a sentencing hearing, a Circuit Judge sentenced the 39-year-old to 16 months in prison to be followed by 8 years of probation and 100 hours of community service. He was credited with 387 days of jail time already served.

He pleaded guilty to one count each of DUI manslaughter and driving without a license. According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, he was driving a Ford F-350 pickup when he drove through a stop at a South Bay intersection and crashed into a school bus. The truck ended up in a nearby canal.

Three of his passengers, all of Boynton Beach, died at the scene. The 39-year-old sustained minor injuries. During the investigation immediately after the crash, deputies determined that he was impaired.

The driver of the school bus, who was the only occupant, sustained minor scratches and injuries, according to FHP.

According to the hospital staff, he had a blood-alcohol level of .233, nearly three times the legal limit for intoxication in Florida.
