An 18-year-old boy and his twin 12-year-old sisters were struck and critically injured by a pickup truck as they crossed a Palm Beach County road, police said. A fourth child was also critically injured and airlifted to a hospital, the Post reports.
A Delray Beach bus had stopped just before a northbound pickup truck slammed into the children as they crossed the northbound lane, a Palm Beach Police Sergeant said. Twelve-year-old twin sisters and their 18-year-old brother were rushed by paramedics to the hospital, he said. The Wellington residents were students at a Boca Raton School.
A fourth child was in critical condition at a Fort Pierce hospital and was undergoing surgery. He was conscious and speaking to emergency workers before he was airlifted to the hospital, FHP said. The pickup driver, a 22-year-old of Delray Beach, was arrested and charged with four counts of reckless driving and causing bodily injury.
