Car Accident In Indian River County Injured Three People
A car slammed into barriers outside of a house injuring at least three pedestrians, police said. The male driver has been arrested on suspicion of terrorism, reports The Post. Witnesses saw officers surround the car before the man was taken away in handcuffs.
A car collided into barriers outside the house, the Indian River County Police said in a statement. Three people were taken to the hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening. This would be the fourth vehicle attack in the county, said Florida Highway Patrol.
Witnesses say the crash, which involved a black tinted SUV, appears to have been deliberate. “I think it looked intentional. The car was speeding towards the barriers,” witness tells The Post. “I was walking on the other side of the road.”
“I heard some noise and someone screamed. I turned around and I saw a black SUV driving very fast close to the railings, maybe even on the pavement.” She says the vehicle didn’t appear to have a front license plate.
Another witness, a 34-year-old The Post employee that he heard screams and then saw the car plow into a group of cyclists waiting at a traffic light before accelerating toward the barrier.
The Florida Highway Patrol disclosed that the crash is still under investigation as the department is trying to determine of drugs or alcohol had a part to play in the crash.
