A car, driven by a 17-year-old boy, slammed into a Riviera Beach dental office, blowing out walls, crumpling equipment and shattering the normalcy of a routine day at the office.
The doctor was in the room next door when he heard a loud boom and then watched helplessly as the office, where he has based his practice for more than two decades, broke apart.
“I looked up and there’s a car all the way through the operatory next door,” he said. “Thank God no one was in that room. They all would have died.”
The dental chair was under the car. Chairs were crushed. The laser equipment was destroyed. The ceiling caved in. The walls caved in. It was unbelievable.”
Five patients in the dental shop were injured in the crash, including the car’s driver and two of his friends. They were lucky. Their injuries weren’t life threatening, the doctor said.
The doctor’s assistant was nearly pinned by a sink that was pushed up against her back when the car barreled into the office. Her patient was inches from getting crushed by a crumbling wall, she said.
Accident attorney Jason Weisser of Schuler, Halvorson, Weisser, Zoeller and Overbeck responded to this unfortunate crash. “This is a serious accident resulting in injuries. We hope the investigators can quickly determine what caused the accident. Please be careful and obey the speed limits whenever you are driving a motorcycle, car, SUV or truck.
