A 10-year-old from Palm Beach County was left with life-threatening injuries after he was struck by a car while crossing a street to deliver food to a homeless man in Fort Pierce, Florida Highway Patrol reports.
Several family members are said to have seen the accident, the victim’s aunt said. Others had crossed the street ahead of the victim, his mom added. As he headed across, entering a turn lane, report says the victim suddenly looked terrified and darted into the path of a vehicle.
Florida Highway Patrol officials, who say speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash, found the victim lying unconscious on the road. He was later taken to the hospital.
“He would give his clothes and shoes to friends in need and was bringing fresh fruit to a homeless man he had seen the day before when the accident occurred, they say. If all of us were more like him, this world would be so different,” adds his aunt.
The Florida Highway Patrol Department said, the car incident is still under investigation and encourages anyone with relevant information relating to the crash to contact the Department.
Accident attorney Jason Weisser of Schuler, Halvorson, Weisser, Zoeller and Overbeck responded to this unfortunate crash. “This is a serious accident resulting in injuries.
