At least eight people were injured in Martin County after three vehicles crashed into buildings in two separate car accidents, Florida Highway Patrol officials said.

The first crash happened in Jensen Beach when a sanitation truck rammed into a storefront at Jensen Beach and Port Salerno Point Avenue, officials said.

Police believe a black 2011 Volkswagen ran a red light, causing the garbage truck, which was traveling westbound, to swerve off the road and into a deli, Florida Highway Patrol officials said.

Four men and two women were rushed to hospitals in Martin County.

Their injuries ranged from serious but non-life-threatening to minor, Florida Highway Patrol officials said.

A second vehicle crashed near a bank at 13th Avenue and 50th Street in Hobe Sound just a while later, according to Florida Highway Patrol officials.

The vehicle had collided with a Honda Accord just outside the bank premises

Two people in the Honda were rushed to area hospitals but their conditions were unknown, Florida Highway Patrol officials said.

Police officials and the Florida Highway Patrol said no arrests were made in either incident but investigations are ongoing.

The Florida Highway Patrol is urging anyone with relevant information about the crash to contact the department as investigations are still going on.
