Florida Highway Patrol Authorities and the Palm Beach County police department have identified the four people who were critically injured in a fiery head-on car crash after a vehicle headed the wrong way down an Interstate 95 exit ramp in Boca Raton.
Richard Jack ,31, of Boynton Beach, was driving a 2012 Kia Optima when he had made a wrong turn from Palmetto Park Road and had entered the southbound I-95 exit ramp, a Florida Highway Patrol Lieutenant said in a report.
The Kia Optima then collided with a 2018 Hyundai Sonata, driven by 37-year-old David Henry of Fort Lauderdale, who was exiting I-95. The Hyundai caught fire on impact and became engulfed flames, Florida Highway Patrol officials said.
Jack and Henry, were critically injured and treated at the scene by Boca Raton Fire Rescue crews before being transported to a nearby hospital. The Florida Highway Patrol report indicates Henry was from the United Kingdom. Two other people were also critically injured in the crash.
Jack was wearing a seat belt, but Henry was not.
The crash, which is still under investigation, occurred near a section of Palmetto Park Road interchange that is in a construction zone. Express lanes are being added there.
Anyone with information relating to what must have caused the crash should inform the Florida Highway Patrol officials.
