Several members of the Florida Highway Patrol were injured in two separate car accidents, official sources said.
An unmarked police vehicle was responding to reports of an attempted robbery when it collided with another vehicle near NW California Blvd in St. Lucie County, Florida Patrol Officials said.
Three police officers were taken to St. Lucie County Hospital for treatment of injuries to the back and knees. They are listed in stable condition.
The two individuals in the other car were taken to Delray Medical Center with minor injuries.
A marked squad car was responding to the first crash site when they were also involved in a collision near St Lucie Blvd and North 25th Street. Police in that crash were taken to an area hospital complaining of neck and back pain.
The officers involved have not yet been identified and the cause of both crashes is currently under investigation. Florida Highway Patrol said, investigations are still ongoing to detect if the accident was caused by either drugs or alcohol.
Anyone with relevant information relating to what may have caused the car crash is asked to contact the FHP Department.
