A pregnant Palm Beach County woman was critically injured in a head-on collision with a suspected drunk driver who live-streamed the aftermath of the crash.
A 25-year-old of Boca Raton is charged with gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, according to Martin County jail records.
The victim, who was four months pregnant, was initially not expected to survive the crash, which ignited a fire in her Chrysler and left her pinned in the vehicle, Florida Highway Patrol officials said. First responders were able to extinguish the blaze and extract the victim from the wreckage.
Both the 32-year-old victim of Palm Beach County and her unborn daughter were airlifted to a hospital. The victim’s husband, a 41-year-old man from Riviera Beach told Florida Highway Patrol officials that his wife was kept on a respirator until her organs could be harvested for donation.
Florida Highway Patrol officials have decided to withhold the names of the victim until further notice, however, the Palm Beach Sheriff Office is urging anyone with relevant information concerning the car crash to contact the Florida Highway Patrol.
