Jeremiah Lukas had just dropped off his son at a volleyball camp before he was critically injured in an accident in Palm Beach.
The 43-year-old father of two was a few minutes from home, waiting to turn left onto Northwest 12th Avenue, when a SUV crashed into his car on Palmetto Park Road, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office and Florida Highway Patrol officials.
Jeremiah Lukes was taken to Delray Medical Center with critical injuries, along with four teenagers in the SUV and another man who was caught up in the wreck. All six people injured in the crash are expected to survive, according to a Palm Beach Fire Rescue spokesman.
Three of the six four teenagers in the SUV were from Riviera Beach. The sheriff’s office said, the SUV may have sped through a stop signal on westbound Palmetto Park Road just before the crash.
Authorities have said the teenagers are suspected of committing an armed robbery on Federal Highway shortly before the crash. No charges had been filed yet.
However, the FHP hopes sufficient information about the crash as well identities of its victims would soon be made available.
