The 49-year-old, who lives west of Port Salerno, was at a red light on Hobe Sound Boulevard east of Jensen Beach Road and was turning right onto Hypoluxo Road when her Honda Fit collided with a Nissan Altima, the Palm Beach Sheriff’s office and the Florida Highway Patrol officials said.

The Altima then struck a Toyota Tacoma, driven by Daniel Brown, 27, of Delray Beach, who lost control and went through a metal guardrail and into a canal, where his car overturned, according to a report.

Brown was pulled from the water in critical condition, the report said.

The 49-year old, and the other victim, listed in the report as Richard Michael then 24, received minor injuries, the report said.

In a court hearing, the 49-year-old was declared at fault and cited for violating a traffic signal, according to the sheriff’s office and court records.

The court suspended her license for six months, fined her $1,000 and ordered that she attend 12 hours of driving school.

The 52-year-old said, she never saw the Altima strike Daniel’s car and send it into the canal and was shaken to later learn to be in critical condition.
