A Martin County community is mourning the death of a 9-year-old boy who was discovered after a two-vehicle car crash in the county.
The fourth-grader in Jensen Beach was a Type 1 diabetic, and his family said he suffered an extreme drop in blood sugar at some point before the accident.
The crash happened between Interstate 95 and Westbound started Avenue. A Toyota Corolla, driven by a 29-year-old, collided with a cab in which the little boy was in with his dad.
Both the 29-year old driver and the little boy’s dad suffered non-life threatening injuries and were taken to Gone Sound Medical Center in Martin County.
The little boy was rushed to a hospital in Boynton Beach with brain trauma and several injuries where he later died, The Post reported.
The School District superintendent said the 87-student class was in shock.
The Florida Highway Patrol said, the cause of the crash is still under investigation, but no charges have been filed yet
