Two-Vehicle Crash Near Port St. Lucie Left Five People With Injuries
A 36-year-old Belle Glade woman was injured in a two-vehicle crash near St. Port Lucie, the Florida Highway Patrol.
Police authorities and the Florida Highway Patrol identified the woman as Sarah Hillary. The crash happened on northbound U.S. 27 at mile marker 59. According to a crash report, Sarah was driving north when she moved to the outside lane from the inside lane. Sarah’s 2014 Mazda crashed into the back of a northbound Mack truck as she changed lanes.
Both vehicles came to a stop in the outside lane. Sarah suffered severe injuries at the scene. Authorities are investigating whether she was under the influence of alcohol. The report indicates that she was not wearing a seat belt.
The truck’s driver, identified as a 63-year-old of Clewiston, sustain minor injuries and was taken to Delray Medical Center in Palm Beach County.
Three other passengers in the Mack truck also sustain injuries that were reported not to be critical.
The crash is still under investigation, the Florida Highway Patrol said. Anyone with relevant information relating to the crash is asked to contact the agency at once.
