A 42-year-old Palm Springs man had been arrested after he allegedly struck and injured a pedestrian with his truck while he was under the influence of either alcohol or drugs, according to Palm Springs police authorities.
Police said it is still confusing as to why there was no blood test done following the car crash that injured 56-year-old Christian Leonard of Palm Springs.
The driver refused requests to submit to a blood test following the crash on Forest Hill Boulevard west of the Congress Avenue, Palm Springs police said.
The 42-year-old driver’s bail was set at $150,000. He could also be put on house arrest, the judge said.
The incident had occurred at dusk. According to an arrest report, the driver had struck Leonard (the victim) while he was crossing Forest Hill in an area without using a crosswalk. Leonard had sustained head injuries and was confirmed critical about an hour after the crash had happened, according to reports from both the Florida Highway Patrol and the Palm Springs police department.
Anyone with information relating to the crash is asked to contact the Florida Highway Patrol or the Palm Beach police department.
