Jupiter Island Road in Martin County was closed following a car accident that sent two men and three women to the hospital with critical injuries.
The accident happened at the intersection of Jupiter Island Road (Route 152) and Ocean Breeze Park Road, according to a media release from Florida Highway Patrol officials.
Troopers said, a 43-year-old man was driving a green Chevrolet pickup west on Ocean Breeze Park Road and failed to stop at a stop sign. The Chevrolet truck collided with an Isuzu sports utility vehicle, driven by a 53-year-old, that was heading north on Route 152 passing Ocean Breeze Park Road.
The two vehicles then crashed into an embankment, with the 32-year-old driver vehicle continuing to travel up the embankment until it stopped at a tree.
The Isuzu SUV was hit on the passenger side and came to final rest on the grass shoulder.
Members of Martin County Volunteer Fire Company responded to the scene to administer medical attention.
The 53-year-old driver and three of his passengers were taken to Delray Medical Center and the Chevrolet driver was taken to a hospital in Martin County, Florida Highway Patrol officials said.
