An 18-Year-Old Teenager Charged In Car Crash That Sent A Woman To The Hospital
A teen from The Acreage is being charged as an adult in a crash that injured a 67-year-old grandmother, according to Palm Beach County Jail records.
Investigators say the 18-year-old teen was on Beeline Highway when he ran a red light at Northlake Boulevard and crashed into another vehicle. The crash critically injured Acreage resident, Demi Robert, who was driving the other vehicle. It occurred about 12 miles southwest from where the Acura was stolen, police said.
Police say that a 16-year-old boy was in the stolen Acura with the teen driver. It was not clear if that teen will also face charges.
The 18-year-old was transferred to the county jail to face charges of grand theft and fleeing and eluding law enforcement. He appeared for a bond hearing before a judge.
A Palm Beach County Court judge placed a $50,000 bond on the teen.
The father of the 18-year-old said, his son was living with his parents. He was furious after the bond hearing.
The Palm Beach Post is identifying the teen because he is facing adult charges. Authorities say the teen stole an Acura from a Jupiter gas station at Alternate A1A and Indiantown Road. He evaded attempts by Jupiter and Palm Beach Gardens police officers to pull the stolen vehicle over, according to police reports.
