Seven people including a 6-year-old boy were severely injured when a car driven by a 47-year-old hopped a curb and slammed into a building in the Broward County, FHP officials and other sources said.
The driver lost control while making a turn in Broward County sending the car into a crowd of pedestrians, Florida Highway Patrol said.
Investigators believe a malfunction in the car’s controls may have been the reason for the crash, sources said.
The car hit a pickup truck as well and came to rest only after striking a building at 2095 Northwest Avenue.
The pedestrians and people in both vehicles were removed with injuries that were not life-threatening.
A 26-year-old, 9-year-old, and a 66-year-old pedestrian were all taken to Broward County Hospital, Florida Highway Patrol sources said.
Police officials said, the driver is not expected to face charges, however, investigations are still ongoing.
Anyone with additional information concerning the crash is asked to contact the Florida Highway Patrol or the Broward County Police Department.
