A West Palm Beach police officer was injured during a crash which occurred on Beeline Highway near Jog Road, the Palm Beach County Fire Rescue, as well as Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, said.
FHP reported that a semi-truck driven by a West Palm Beach Police officer was struck by another passing pickup truck and then pulled over to check for any damage as well as the well-being of the pickup truck driver. The driver of a pickup truck did not notice the stopped semi-truck and had struck it from the back, the sheriff’s office added.
The injured officer and one passenger have both been taken to the hospital by the trauma helicopter. They are listed in a stable condition, the sheriff’s office said.
According to the sheriff’s office, the westbound lanes of Beeline Highway were later shut down between North Lake Boulevard and Jog Road for at least three hours.
Palm Beach County, West Palm Beach, as well as the Palm Beach Gardens Firefighters, were all present at the scene, according to Fire Rescue’s Twitter.
The identity of the police officer and the passenger injured in the crash are still withheld, and the sheriff’s office hopes they get discharged soon as their injuries are not too severe.
