47-Year-Old Bicyclist Dies At The Scene Of A Hobe Sound Crash
HOBE SOUND -A Port Salerno man died when a pickup hit him as he crossed a busy Martin County intersection on his bicycle, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The wreck took place on Federal Highway, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
William Anderson, 47, died at Federal Highway and Cove Road, where the crash took place, the Florida Highway Patrol Department said.
Anderson was crossing from the east side of Federal to the west on his bicycle when the front end of a northbound Ford F-250 struck him as he moved from the middle lane to the inside lane.
The driver of the truck, a 35-year-old man of Hobe Sound, did not sustain injuries. He was wearing a seat belt and alcohol played no role in the crash, Florida Highway Patrol said in its report.
The 35-year-old truck driver was unable to observe the bicyclist in the inside lane, Florida Highway Patrol’s report said.
