The two-car crash happened on Atlantic Avenue by the entrance to the high school. At least one of the people injured in the wreck is a student at the school, the Delray Beach police said.

A Toyota RAV4 was heading east on Atlantic and tried to turn left into the high school from the right lane, according to Florida Highway Patrol officials.

The SUV cut across the lanes and collided with a westbound Ford F-150, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The passenger in the SUV was trapped in the car and had to be extricated, rescue crews said. That person was taken as a trauma patient to Delray Medical Center.

The SUV driver and one other passenger were injured as well and taken to a hospital for minor injuries. No one in the pickup was hurt.

Florida Highway Patrol officials are still investigating exactly what caused the crash, although, the Florida Highway Patrol officials said either drugs or alcohol may have been the cause of the crash.
