A 31-year-old woman was hit and injured by a car while crossing a Palm Beach County Street, police and the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The woman was crossing Delray Beach near 109th Street in Boca Raton when she was struck by the Toyota Highlander, police and the Florida Highway Patrol said.
She was unconscious at the scene of the crash and was later transported to a nearby hospital, authorities and the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The Toyota driver remained on scene and has not been charged with a crime, police said. The victim’s name was withheld by police pending family notification.
Residents of the neighborhood told The Post that the stretch of Delray Beach is especially dangerous for pedestrians.
“It’s dangerous, especially for kids,” a 28-year-old said. “The drivers are not keeping a low speed.”
A 25-year-old, who works two blocks away on Delray Beach, said he also notices drivers speeding past the intersection. “You see the cars at high speed, even though they have the cameras here,” he said.
The Florida Highway Patrol Department said, the cause of the crash is still investigation and anyone with relevant information relating to the crash should contact the FHP department.
