The Florida Highway Patrol and police authorities say a 51-year-old woman has died from injuries suffered in a three-vehicle crash that shut down part of a Hobe Sound highway for several hours.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office and Florida Highway Patrol officials says the crash occurred when the vehicle of a 51-year-old hit a guardrail along the westbound lanes of Jensen a town in Martin County.
Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office says her vehicle spun around and was facing east in the left lane when it was hit by a westbound vehicle. A third vehicle also was involved in the second collision, Florida Highway Patrol officials said.
The 51-year-old woman, who was from Port Salerno, died at the Martin County General Hospital.
Police deputies and the Florida Highway Patrol say three people traveling in the other two cars were treated for minor injuries.
The cause of the crash is being investigated, as the Florida Highway Patrol are still trying to determine if alcohol or drugs had a role to play in the car crash.
Anyone with relevant information relating to the crash should contact the police authorities, a police sergeant said.
