An unnamed female passenger in a 2005 Lexus was injured on the scene of a crash on Interstate 95 that shut down the highway’s southbound lanes near Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The fatal crash occurred between a Lexus and a Volvo, Florida Highway Patrol officials said.
The 32-year-old driver was taken to Saint Mary’s Medical Center with serious injuries. Two passengers were also taken to a hospital.
The Lexus was traveling south on I-95 when there was a tire blowout that caused the car to spin into the path of a 2015 Volvo, FHP said in its crash report.
The Volvo collided with the Lexus , according to FHP. A 38-year-old man who was driving the Volvo was uninjured in the wreck.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Investigators hope to get all southbound lanes of Interstate 95 reopened, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
According to the FHP, no southbound lanes are open and traffic is being diverted.
Florida Highway Patrol has not revealed the name of the injured victims.
