A taxi jumped the curb at a busy Port Salerno bus stop, critically injuring a 9-year-old boy and a 41-year-old woman, Florida Highway Patrol Officials and witnesses said.
The driver of the yellow cab lost control on Port Salerno in Martin County and barreled into the crowd.
“The mother and her son were waiting at the bus stop,” said a witness.
“The mother and little boy went sliding down the sidewalk from the impact.
Witnesses picked up the toddler and took him into a nearby store. The witness tried to give the mom CPR. When an ambulance pulled up, EMTs tried frantically to revive the child, but he was critical.
Both the boy and the woman were transported to a hospital in Jensen Beach, Martin County.
Another woman was critically injured. Three others suffered minor injuries.
Authorities withheld the names of the victims pending family notification. Anyone with additional information concerning the crash is asked to contact the FHP department.
