One Man Dead After 3-Vehicle Crash On Florida’s Turnpike
Darkness, wet pavement, and speed are some of the factors the Florida Highway Patrol is considering in its investigation of a fatal three-vehicle crash on Florida’s Turnpike near Deerfield Beach.
It happened in the southbound lanes at mile marker 70, investigators said.
According to the crash report, David Mark Bukofzer, 54, of Boynton Beach, died after losing control of the 2007 Toyota Camry he was driving.
He veered from the left lane into the center lane and into the path of a 2015 Honda Pilot driven by a 37-year-old Miami man, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The two cars spun clockwise until they came to rest in the middle of the lanes. Another 44-year old of Summerland Key, could not stop in time and the 2005 Dodge Ram pickup truck he was driving struck the Honda, which spun counterclockwise, striking the Toyota again, investigators said.
Bukofzer was taken to Broward Health North Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
The 37-year-old, the 44-year-old, and a 17-year-old passenger were treated for minor injuries, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The main cause of the crash is still under investigation and the FHP department is encouraging anyone with additional information concerning the crash to contact the FHP Department
