An 11-year-old girl was left critical after being struck by a pickup truck in a parking lot in Broward County, FHP authorities said.
The girl was identified by the Broward County Medical Examiner’s Office as 11-year Bethany Henry.
Police said, the victim was leaving the theme park after a visit with her siblings when she slipped away from them and darted between two cars.
A spokesman for the Florida Highway Patrol Department said, the 32-year-old driver of the truck had stopped to render aid and was distraught after the accident. Charges have not be filed against him yet.
FHP is advising all parents and older siblings to always make sure they grab their little ones because they do have a tendency to get away from them, especially in areas with high traffic volume. They also said, it is a miracle the child is still alive.
Florida Highway Patrol said, the girl was the only victim on the crash scene. The pickup driver is currently being questioned by police authorities. Anyone with relevant information concerning the crash is asked to contact the FHP Department.
