33-Year-Old Woman In Custody For Causing Crash That Sent Grandmother And Granddaughter To The Hospital
A 33-year-old Boca Raton woman an has been arrested for driving under the influence causing a multi-vehicle crash in Deerfield Beach.
Broward Sheriff’s Office traffic homicide detectives arrested the 33-year-old who was booked into the county jail.
Traffic homicide investigators determined she was driving under the influence of alcohol and her blood-alcohol level exceeded the legal limit.
She faces two counts of driving under the influence, six counts of DUI with damage to person or property, possession of alprazolam (Xanax) and violation of probation.
The 33-year-old was driving a Dodge Avenger east on West Hillsboro Boulevard near the 4300 block when she lost control and veered left across the eastbound lanes. The car continued across the raised center median and went head-on into traffic.
Her car collided with three vehicles, including a Nissan Altima, driven by 26-year-old Josh Vetter, a Chrysler 200 and a Hyundai Sonata.
The teen and her grandmother, 67-year-old Dorathy Cleone, were critically injured at the scene.
Detectives with BSO’s Traffic Homicide Investigation Unit said, the the 33-year old was traveling at a high rate of speed.
