An unnamed male passenger in a 2005 Lexus was injured at the scene of a crash on Interstate 95 that shut down the highway’s southbound lanes near Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred between a Lexus and a truck-and-trailer, Florida Highway Patrol officials said. The driver of the Lexus was also critical on scene.
The 39-year-old driver was taken to Saint Mary’s Medical Center with serious injuries. Six other passengers were taken to a hospital.
The Lexus was traveling south on I-95 when there was a tire blowout that caused the car to spin into the path of a semi-trailer, FHP said in its crash report.
The trailer collided with the Lexus’s rear, according to the agency. A 25-year old man who was driving the trailer was not injured in the wreck.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Investigators hope to get all southbound lanes of Interstate 95 open, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Florida Highway Patrol has not revealed the name of the injured victims.
