Two Officers Have Been Injured In A Car Crash
Two off-duty FHP officers were seriously injured when they were hit by a car, FHP authorities said.
Two officers with the FHP department and another 22-year-old FHP officer had pulled their respective vehicles to the right shoulder in the eastbound lane of the Palm Beach County.
The drivers were outside of their cars when a 2013 Ford sedan barreled into the shoulder, Palm Beach County police said.
A 25-year-old man, who had been driving a 2010 Honda, was standing near the other driver’s 2012 BMW when the third vehicle crashed into his car just past exit 53, causing it to hit the other 22-year-old officer’s car and hit the officer.
A Palm Beach County police spokesman could not immediately confirm initial reports that the drivers were outside their vehicles following an earlier collision.
The 27-year-old officer and his partner were airlifted to a hospital in Palm Beach County with serious injuries. The other officer was uninjured, cops said.
The 25-year-old driver of the Ford was taken to a Palm Beach County Hospital with minor injuries.
No criminality was immediately suspected, cops said. The investigation is ongoing.
