A tragic St. Lucie County car accident critically injured five teenage girls and left two others with minor injuries after a high school dance.
A 21-year old girl was driving on Route 49 in River Park when her car veered off the road and hit a Toyota Corolla, leaving her with critical injuries. Five teenage girls were rushed to a local hospital, state police said.
The two other people injured in the car, whom cops would not name, were in stable condition. The Press of St. Lucie County identified them as a 15 and an 19-year old girl.
The girls were students at a high school dance, according to social media posts. The driver in the Corolla was also reported critical at the crash scene.
Cops did not know what caused the 21-year-old girl’s car to veer off the road. No other cars were involved in the accident.
The school superintendent told the Press of St. Lucie County that the girls are in the 11th and 12th grades.
The Florida Highway Patrol is urging anyone with relating to the crash to contact the St. Lucie County Police Department.
