VERO BEACH — A three-car crash on 20th Street at 27th Avenue in Vero Beach sent the driver from each vehicle to a local hospital, according to the Florida Highway Patrol Department.
Police and fire personnel were called to the scene a few minutes after the crash.
A police spokesman said, the crash was one of three caused by the same driver who was suffering from a medical condition while driving on State Road 60.
State Road 60 turns into 20th Street as it progresses east into Vero Beach city limits where the last wreck occurred.
The Police Officer said, the driver was a 36-year-old man, of Vero Beach. He was in a Hyundai Genesis and crashed into the back of a 2016 Nissan Versa at 27th Avenue.
He said the impact sent the Versa into the rear of a 2017 Kia Sportage. The drivers of the impacted vehicles had minor injuries, the Police Officer said.
He said the 36-year-old man was thought to be stable at a hospital.
The first in the series of three crashes the 36-year-old was involved in occurred at the intersection of State Road 60 and 58th Avenue and the second at 43rd Avenue, the Police Officer said. Information was not available yet on those crashes.
Tow trucks arrived at the 27th Avenue crash to clear the wreckage and remove debris.
