Woman Arrested For DUI After Car Crash That Injured One
A 30-year-old woman was arrested on a DUI charge in a crash that critically injured a woman who was walking on the Intracoastal Bridge, records show.
Authorities say a 30-year-old of Boynton Beach was intoxicated when she crashed her white 2006 Mercedes-Benz C280 into another woman crossing to the south side of the bridge on East Ocean Avenue.
The 43-year-old woman of Boca Raton was wearing an orange reflective vest, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report. She died at the scene.
The 30-year old was ordered to be held in the Palm Beach County Jail in lieu of a $100,000 bond. She cannot drive or drink alcohol as the case moves through the court system.
A man who witnessed the wreck told FHP investigators that he saw the 30-year-old step out of her car and say, “she just walked out in front of me.”
Records indicate that the 30-year-old was driving at least 60 mph, twice the posted speed limit on the bridge.
A few hours after the wreck, the 30-year-old driver’s blood-alcohol level was nearly twice the legal limit, records show.
