Man Faces Charges After Causing Car Wreck That Injured Five
A Boynton Beach man, who’s driver’s license was suspended for 12 years and who has six convictions of driving with a suspended license, was arrested after he fled police then caused a crash that left five people with serious injuries, according to a police report.
The 39-year-old is facing charges of fleeing and eluding police, causing injury or death, driving with a suspended license and failure to appear. His bond amount has been set at $40,000, but he remains hospitalized as a result of the crash and has been unable to appear in court.
He was seen by a Boynton Beach police officer just after midnight allegedly running a stop sign at the intersection of Northeast Fourth Avenue and Northeast Fourth Street at a high rate of speed.
The officer attempted to make a traffic stop, but he fled in a 2004 Pontiac, running another stop sign before getting onto northbound Interstate 95 at Boynton Beach Boulevard.
The officer exited at Hypoluxo Road where he noticed the Pontiac had been involved in a crash in the 1400 block of Hypoluxo Road in Lantana.
The crash caused a 2011 Toyota to roll over and the driver and two other people sustained injuries and were transported to a trauma center in Delray Medical Center.
