The Florida Highway Patrol said that a fiery crash that critically injured five young people in St. Lucie County is still an active investigation.
Investigators say a 2004 GMC Yukon, driven by a 34-year-old man of Fort Pierce, crashed into the rear of a Dodge Dakota near Midway Road and S. 25th Street.
The Dakota burst into flames, critically injuring 4 people inside. Florida Highway Patrol said that once its investigation is complete, it will send the information to the State Attorney’s Office, which will decide if charges should be filed.
Another passenger in the Dodge Dakota, 11-year-old Veronica Adams, was rescued from the burning car and taken to the hospital.
Troopers said that they’re looking for the person who rescued Adams.
FHP says, the driver who caused the wreck was critically injured and a passenger in a third vehicle suffered minor injuries.
Investigators said if anyone has any information about the wreck, call the Florida Highway Patrol.
