A 20-year-old Has Been Killed, After Vero Beach Car Crash That Left Several Other Injured
A 20-year-old is dead following a two-vehicle crash in Vero Beach.
One of the two team vans collided with a pickup truck near the Barber Bridge in Vero Beach. A 20-year-old woman was pronounced dead and 12 others were injured, officials said.
“Unfortunately, there is one confirmed fatality, and it was a member of the team,” Vero Beach Police Chief said. “The female was in the front passenger side of the first van that was being driven by one of the coaches.”
Police identified the victim as Grace Rett and said she celebrated her 20th birthday recently.
Some of the other victims suffered serious injuries and are undergoing surgery, officials said.
The victims have not been identified.
The 20-year old woman’s family are currently traveling to Florida with the school president and chaplain.
Vero Beach Police Chief said the 20-year old was the front passenger of the van involved in the crash, which was being driven by one of the coaches.
The crash remains under investigation but according to eyewitnesses, the van was traveling on a busy road when it turned directly into the path of a red Ram pickup truck that was coming in the opposite direction.
