A 30-year-old Boca Raton woman was injured when her car wrecked on Interstate 95 in northern Broward County and she was thrown to the pavement, the Florida Highway Patrol and witnesses said.
Lilian Brandon lost control of her 2005 Kia Sorento in the southbound lanes of the interstate just north of Hillsboro Boulevard, just south of Boca Raton, Florida Highway Patrol said.
Lilian was traveling in the left-center lane. Her vehicle swerved to the right, struck a cab and began to rotate clockwise, turning over at least twice. She was thrown from the car as it turned over, Florida Highway Patrol said. She was immediately taken to the hospital with severe injuries.
The cab driver and three other passengers were unconscious after the crash, and FHP said they are in stable condition in a local hospital in the county.
Lydia, who was traveling alone, was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the wreck, Florida Highway Patrol said. Results of tests on whether she was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash were not yet made available.
Florida Highway Patrol officials had not determined the cause of the wreck yet. Its report did not really disclose how fast Hillary was driving when the crash took place.
