Woman Struck And Killed By A Ford Driver
A 36-year-old man is charged in connection with a car crash that caused a Jeep to spin out of control and killed a woman in a wheelchair who was on the side of the road waiting to cross the street.
The 36-year old man of Boynton Beach, Indian River County is charged with vehicular homicide, a first-degree misdemeanor. The charge was filed and an arraignment date has not yet been set.
A 39-year old woman died in the crash that occurred on Sebastian Avenue and Winter Beach Road in the city’s neighborhood, police authorities said.
The 39-year old was stopped at a red light facing west on Winter Beach waiting to cross the street, police authorities said.
A man in 2018 Jeep was driving north on Sebastian Road. The 36-year old man stopped his 2008 Ford Focus at the red light facing the opposite direction while he waited to turn left onto Winter Beach, police reports say.
She turned left and crashed into the side of the Jeep, police reports say. The Jeep spun counterclockwise and struck the 39-year old woman.
The Ford driver told police at the scene that she waited until the light turned red before she turned, police reports say. She said she never saw the Jeep, police reports say.
