A 43-year-old man and his 34-year-old wife sustained life-threatening injuries when a stolen Lexus driven by two teens plowed into their car at the intersection of River Park and Lakewood Park Rd in St. Lucie County in Florida.
Police officials say the underage driver of the Lexus ran a red light at dangerous speed while driving southbound on River Park Rd.
It’s believed the male passenger of the Holden Commodore was unconscious on impact.
His wife, who was driving, was taken to hospital with critical injuries.
The four teenagers, who police believe stole the 4WD Lexus during a home invasion on morning, remained at the crash scene, until FHP arrived. The shocked parents of the male passenger comforted each other while they took in the horrific scene.
An acting Superintendent said speaking to the man’s parents was one of the hardest things he had done in his career.
“I’ve had to stand at the intersection with the parents of one of the victims, I’ve been able to explain how it has occurred but not why”.
“This behavior is abhorrent. No one in the community can understand why.
Attorney Jason Weisser of Schuler, Halvorson, Weisser, Zoeller and Overbeck responded to distracted driving. “In my many years as a Personal Injury Lawyer I’ve helped many victims that were injured because someone was distracted and crashed into their vehicles. If you’ve been injured by someone because they weren’t paying attention to the road, please call me so I can help you get compensation for your damages.”
